  • Head of Fundraising & Development

    - Permanent, full-time

Dunedin, located on the southeastern coast of the South Island of New Zealand, is a city known for its rich history, stunning natural scenery, and vibrant cultural scene. Home to New Zealand’s oldest university, the University of Ota-go, Dunedin's cultural offerings extend to our renowned museums, galleries, and a thriving music and arts community. Positioned at the forefront of that cultural landscape is Tūhura Otago Museum.

Tūhura Otago Museum shares the natural, cultural, and scientific stories of Otago, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the world. With over 1.5 million objects in our collection, we tell the stories of the world – from here in Dunedin to deep space, from millions of years ago to envelope-pushing research – through galleries, exhibitions, displays, tours, and talks.

Following significant redevelopment projects in the 1990s and 2000s, the Museum has continued to evolve. The Tūhura Otago Community Trust Science Centre, opened in 2017, features over 45 hands-on science interactives and the three-tier Tropical Forest. Our Beautiful Science gallery and Perpetual Guardian Planetarium, completed in 2015, offer digitally interactive experiences. In 2022, the Museum was renamed ‘Tūhura Otago Museum’ to better reflect our mission of inspiring curiosity, wonder, and understanding of the world.

Today, Tūhura Otago Museum stands as a vibrant hub of cultural heritage, science, and discovery in New Zealand. We continue to captivate and educate visitors of all ages, integrating cutting-edge technology and interactive displays to enhance visitor engagement and learning experiences. We are committed to expanding our outreach, enriching our exhibits, and furthering our mission to inspire and enrich our communities through our collections, our people, and the stories we share.
